It is a big day for me, Erik of the North. I am just returning home from foreign lands. I participated in the first raid of my life, and now the other peoples of the world know of our strength! I joined a team heading to pillage a pathetically weak dwelling filled with incredible riches. I heard some others say the name was Lindesfarne, or something like that. Anyway, the fools had a bunch of treasure, but had no weapons or defenses of any kind. I was able to get some gold and silver and a few rings and broaches, jackpot! I plan to continue raiding as opportunities present themselves, but for now I must return to my homeland and help with the farming. I kind of feel like I am starting to like Odin more than Thor, but Thor is still pretty awesome, at least as long as I need to grow crops. Maybe on one of the other raids I can get a good wife, hopefully she would be as skilled in weaving and cooking as the fine women of my country. Well, I have to get sailing, but I will check in with you some time soon.

Hello again, this is Erik of the North.
Nothing new to really talk about this week. I have just been farming and and trying my hand at wood carving in my spare time. I must say I've gotten pretty good at carving really cool serpents into boards. My father showed me a few tricks that really helped. Specifically, he showed me the proper way to sharpen a knife; that has made carving a lot easier. Lately I have been thinking about finding a suitable wife and trying my hand at farming my own land. I will soon travel into Ribe and begin looking for candidates. Although, I feel like I may have better luck looking in the farming communities. Besides, these families are more respectable than the seasonal merchants who don't own land. Also, a wife from a farming family will probably be awesome at weaving clothes. So I will keep my eyes peeled and hopefully a good wife will be found. I feel confidant that I will be approved by her father because my family is very honorable and has a decent amount of land and animals. Next time I go into Ribe I'm going to head down to the harbor and check out some of the new ships. Some day I will own one; hopefully I can do some traveling then.

The other day I took a break from farming and traveled into the town of Ribe. Along the way I passed quite a few runestones. Most of them were just the typical "This stone was raised by... for..." but a few were decorated more nicely than others. One had a really cool serpent winding all around, that must have been pretty expensive. Once I got to Ribe I looked around and tried to find a stylish broach. One I really liked was made of silver and had a serpent all contorted on itself on one side. This was way too costly for me, so I ended up buying a necklace with a pendant of Thor's hammer. I think it looks pretty good, maybe I can attract some women with it. I'm still trying to get my own land, but I am young and need more money in order to do so, not to mention a wife to help run the household. On the way back to the farm I ran into a Geir Godi and asked him how the crops would do. He said all I could do was pray to Tyr and hope for a good season. This I will do. I may also fashion a bear out of wood so that I may be successful in my hunts as well.

Virtual Viking Post 1
Hello,
My name is Erik Brusason and I am a 20 year old male living outside the town of Ribe with my parents and a few siblings. I am lucky my family owns a decent amount of land and so are free. I have not been on any raids but I am ready to fight valiantly. I spend most of my time farming and trying to stock up enough food for the winter. I also try to keep a watch out for things I can trade with, such as soap stones or glass beads. I try to be fashionable and just came across some indigo cloth that I will save until it can be made into a fine garment. I am looking for a suitable wife, and I have a few prospects,so i will keep an eye on them. I have to go to sleep now so I can get up and farm, talk to you soon.
